About Pier Martel
French-Canadian by birth, Pier has made Australia her home, where she settled in 1989. She studied art at The San Francisco School of Art when an opportunity came up to live temporarily in the USA and attended various art classes after returning to Sydney in Australia. The painting was put on hold for many years until retirement, when the flow of expression returned.
Pier’s painting style and intuitive process developed overtime. Her body of work comprises portraiture mainly painted in oil and expressionist abstraction in acrylic as well as the use of mix media.
